One of the best things about my job as a journalist has been meeting so many inspiring people along the way.
Case in point: Master Plumber Skylar Halpin. After studying art in college, she fell almost accidentally into the family plumbing business and realized that she had found her true calling. Years later, she’s now running day-to-day operations at Halpin Plumbing and is the proud holder of an Ohio Master Plumbing license.
On this week’s episode, she and I discuss everything from how her grandfather founded the family business to her own career trajectory from artist to master plumber; what it’s like running a small business in 2024 (including how difficult it is to find and keep talented plumbers); and why high school grads today should consider a job in the trades, where they will be making serious money instead of racking up debt in college for 4 years.
Enjoy!
