Lymphatic system 101 with Jacky Groenewegen...

... and how a simple body brush can help remove harmful toxins, stimulate your immune system and lead to better overall health.

Did you know your body has its very own waste cleaning and disposal system that is constantly circulating, keeping your immune system stimulated and removing toxins and cellular waste? It’s the lymphatic system, made up of over 800 lymph nodes all throughout your body! And keeping it working smoothly is key to maintaining good health.

On today’s episode, Jacky Groenewegen (owner and founder of Mindful Wellness Medical Thermography, who joined us last September to discuss thermography and mammograms) discusses how the lymphatic system works and how we can keep it healthy, stimulated and doing its job (Hint: the first steps include a few easy lifestyle changes, including no tight belts or bras, and regularly using a long-handled, natural fiber body brush to stimulate the lymph nodes closest to the skin’s surface).

I started the body brushing after my annual thermography appointment a few months ago and quickly adopted it as part of my regular self-care routine. Check out Jacky’s website for more information, including this “how to” lymphatic care pamphlet that you can print and use at home and links to videos showing how it’s done.

As I see it, in this busiest of holiday seasons, lymphatic system care is a gift that requires almost no cost and just a few minutes’ time each morning before you shower.

It just may be the best present you receive all year!

Many thanks to Jacky for joining me on the podcast today to share all she has learned as a thermographer and licensed massage therapist!

Speaking of the holiday season… Verbal Journalism will be on a holiday hiatus for the next two episodes (12/19 and 1/2).

Look for fresh new episodes with more fascinating guests and informative topics in 2025, starting Thursday 1/16/25 (and every first and third Thursday after that)!

In the meantime, Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah and happy New Year to all of my readers and listeners. I am so grateful for you all, and hope this season brings every one of us peace, rest, light, hope and renewal as we close out 2024 and ring in 2025.

SPECIAL THANKS TO:
